HKIFA Animation Series Highlights Three Key Benefits of Fund Investing

The Hong Kong Investment Funds Association (HKIFA) today unveiled three investor education short videos in the <Building Success with Funds> animation series.  These videos aim to equip investors with knowledge about funds and foster correct investment mindsets through light-hearted everyday scenarios, thereby enabling them to make informed investment decisions.

Mr. Sam Yu Chun-sing, Chairman of HKIFA, said: “With the ever-changing financial landscape and the public’s growing accessibility to various investment products and related information across both physical and online channels, it is increasingly important to nurture financial literacy and steer investors towards acquiring accurate knowledge and attitude about investing.”

Yu added: “The fund industry firmly believes in the power of investor education.  Through this new animation series, we aim to highlight to investors, especially among the younger generation, the distinct advantages of funds as an essential investment tool for institutional and retail investors worldwide.  HKIFA is committed to collaborating with industry peers and stakeholders to develop investor education initiatives to enhance the public’s understanding of funds and empower them to seize investment opportunities and achieve their financial or retirement goals.”

The animation series features the smart and loyal pet Corgi, who often transforms into a figure of wisdom to aid its owners, Mr. Gu and Ah Fun, in resolving daily problems.  In the first episode <Investment Fitness>, Ah Fun wants to seek alternatives to running for weight loss, prompting Mr. Gu to seek advice from Corgi.

Photos 2 and 3: <Investment Fitness> emphasizes the diversity of investment instruments offered by funds, including stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate, and alternative assets, catering to investors’ different needs and preferences to achieve “financial fitness”.

In the second episode <Fund Buffet>, the pair debates over selecting a restaurant for their anniversary celebration, and Corgi comes up with an idea that pleases both.

Photos 4 and 5: <Fund Buffet> illustrates how investors can savor funds with exposure across regions and markets globally, with diversified investment strategies to help investors navigate various market conditions.

In the final episode <Fund Pro>, Mr. Gu is struggling with a video game level, and Ah Fun is more than willing to lend a hand.

Photos 6 and 7: <Fund Pro> compares fund investing to video gaming, where fund managers utilize their professional investment expertise and strategies to seize opportunities while managing risks, helping investors to “level up” their investments.

The three-part investor education short videos are now available on the HKIFA’s website and social media platforms (YouTube and Facebook).  The HKIFA website also features fund investment 101, frequently asked questions, and related educational resources for the public.
