On June 24, HKIFA Chairman and Executive Committee members met with a Saudi Arabian delegation at the Saudi Arabia-Hong Kong Asset Management Roundtable hosted by the Securities and Futures Commission.

The delegation was led by Capital Market Authority (CMA) Chairman His Excellency Mr Mohammed A. El-Kuwaiz, with senior representatives from the CMA and asset managers from Saudi Arabia. The roundtable was also joined by SFC Chairman Dr Kelvin Wong and Chief Executive Officer Ms Julia Leung, senior executives from the SFC, as well as representatives from the Financial Services Development Council and the Chinese Asset Management Association of Hong Kong.

During the roundtable discussion, participants shared insights on Hong Kongโ€™s role as an international financial center, global asset management hub, and super connector for Saudi Arabia. They also expressed eagerness to explore mutual market opportunities and potential partnerships.

The day prior, the delegation attended the HKIFA Annual Conference, where H.E. Chairman El-Kuwaiz joined a fireside chat to share the latest trends and developments in the Saudi Arabian financial industry. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring asset managers from Hong Kong and a senior representative from the SFC to discuss opportunities in overseas markets, including the Middle East.

HKIFA Chairman Mr Sam Yu said: โ€œWe are grateful for the opportunity to deepen ties with Saudi Arabia as Hong Kong seeks to expand and enhance its global network. This partnership is a win-win – by leveraging Hong Kongโ€™s role as a super-connector to facilitate cross-border capital flows and attract global investors, we can unlock new investment opportunities and growth avenues for both markets.โ€
