The Hong Kong Investment Funds Association (HKIFA) is a non-profit industry body established in 1986 to represent the fund management industry in Hong Kong. Its key objective is to connect, engage, collaborate, advocate, and share on behalf of its members, while entrenching Hong Kong’s position as a premier global fund management hub. HKIFA undertakes initiatives that represent the views of its members and serve the best interests of investors.

Position Summary

The Head of Office/CEO is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic priorities of HKIFA. Reporting to the Executive Committee, this position plays a pivotal role in advancing the interests of the fund and asset management industry in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote the development of the Hong Kong fund and asset management industry, including business opportunities for HKIFA members (full members, associate members, and affiliated members) in Hong Kong and elsewhere
  • Serve as the voice of the industry and as one of HKIFA’s media spokespersons, acting as a bridge between the fund and asset management sector and regulators in Hong Kong/Mainland, and globally on key policies that may impact the fund industry
  • Foster and promote relationships with key stakeholders and partnering associations across the value chain of the fund and asset management industry
  • Recruit members and engage members through regular communications, webinars and other means to connect each other within the associations and with other industry peers and associations
  • Advance financial education initiatives, with a particular focus on fund investor education to empower informed decision-making, and enhance the HKIFA profile and reach including activation through targeted social media channels
  • Spearhead and coordinate events for the Industry through leadership, convening peers/policymakers.
  • Manage the HKIFA Executive Office team to support the Executive Committee and Sub-committees, including coordination of meetings, preparation of minutes, and follow-up on action items
  • Perform and maintain adequate corporate governance and supervision and demonstrate professional leadership in managing office staff and provide sufficient guidelines to grow their career development
  • Be mindful and intelligent in looking after HKIFA’s financial and budget to derive positive revenue growth and expenditures control to support HKIFA’s key initiatives and development in all aspects, including membership recruitment and retention.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Over 15 years of extensive industry knowledge and experience in the fund and asset management sector, preferably in Hong Kong or Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with regulators, key stakeholders, and industry partners. Prior leadership position and experience in fund management firms will be a plus.
  • Exceptional people management and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and articulate complex industry issues effectively.
  • Strong strategic thinking, organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindset to drive HKIFA’s objectives forward.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, business, law, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA) are advantageous.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Chinese language skills
