Hong Kong MPF Investor Survey 2025 Overview

HKIFA Pensions Subcommittee co-chairs Charlotte Chan and Philip Tso, as well as vice-chair Phillip H. Hasenfus Saran shared the latest HKIFA MPF survey findings in a media briefing on Oct 24.

Key summary of the survey findings:
🔴MPF is the primary source of support in retirement, as indicated by both employees and retirees.
🟠Respondents were cautiously optimistic on market outlook, with more Interest in US, China and Hong Kong equity MPF funds.
🟡There is growing awareness and usage of the MPF Default Investment Strategy (DIS). More education can be done to promote the benefits of both DIS and Tax Deductible Voluntary Contributions (TVC) as convenient and effective retirement savings tools.
🟢Majority of respondents find retirement planning challenging, and even more expressed need for retirement planning advice.
🔵Half of the respondents reported having used AI tools for retirement planning, but trust level remains low.
